The Burying Ground

The Burying Ground, later known as the Grand Street Cemetery, was established outside the Common Fence, which ran along the southern boundaries of the town.

The cemetery was segregated. A relatively small plot next to the Common Fence (later Grand Street) was designated for "colored people."
