German Freeman was a friend and neighbor of Watertowns
Richard Freeman, and could very well have been his brother
or other relation. When Richard Freeman died in 1815,
his widow, their two sons and German were his heirs. German
inherited several small items, including a fiddle, and
a share of Richard Freeman's home and farm on Echo Lake
Road. German's total inheritance was equal to that of
Richard's sons.
German was married and had a family; a three-year-old
child of his died in February of 1818.
The 1830 census shows German as the head of a household
that included two boys and one girl under 10 and a woman
over 55. German's age was between 36 and 55.
